Welcome to my Blogspot!

A big hug and hello to all who enter this site. This is my maiden voyage into new cyber-territory and I don't know what the heck I'm doing.....so please cut me some slack and keep in mind that I'm functioning under the influence of "chemo-brain".

As most of you know, I am a free-lance writer and two-time cancer survivor since 2003. This blog spot is the perfect vehicle to share updates with family and friends regarding my ongoing treatment. It is also a great resource to promote the progress of my latest publication, "The Faces Behind Breast Cancer", in collaboration with Jack Opatrany and M.D. Anderson Cancer Clinic.

I hope to keep you informed (and amused) with weekly updates. Your support and feedback are greatly appreciated, so don't be shy.

Thanks again to all who have supported me during this journey, as well as those of you who have walked (and danced) in my shoes.

Josie,
You are my hero.
Mom always said you had such a beautiful head and you do..it is as beautiful as your big heart. Good luck on your new book "The Faces Behind Breast Cancer"
Love from your sister,
Mimi

Your perfect round head didn't make you have just a round mind because you have been able to make it work in a round way, square way, triangular way, horizontal way, vertical way and in any other way demanded by the ups and downs of life; and ultimately you always came out a winner. Keep up the good and difficult work that you are confronted with at this juncture of your journey because God is with you and He will make you be a winner again. All my love ,Daddy

Hi Josie!
You're looking good, but a little pale. Maybe some listick and pupil color would help. Who's the cute, bald girl right next to you?
Love, Joey

Josie,

I remember the former CCHS Crusader only to become a Crusader of a different sort...destined to be a crusader. The challenge is enormous but knowing you, your resilience, your style, your compassion and passion, the crusade will not only be successful but colorful in the process. Cheers to the Pink Crusader!...Always with you and always proud of you.

Love,
The Other Sister

Hi Mom! I have to say I am very impressed with the site and your new endeavor into "cyberspace" (oooohhhh ahhhhhhh). I am very proud of you, and I will be checking back often to see what you're blogging about. I know that the book will be successful, because you are putting so much heart and effort into it. The future is bright. You have come so far since growing those "plants" in our back yard in Rhode Island...

p.s. Jazz Hands?

Hi Josie,
I like the bald look! (Ask Bubbles about her favorite bald spot!!) I'd love to know the meaning of your nicknames. I think most nicknames have a story.
Seriously, you are an inspiration!
Remember not to take life too seriously.........after all, none of us make it out alive (Red Skelton said that).

Dear Josie,

A very classy photo. I'm eager to see the whole book. So who needs hair?!

I miss you when I'm out on my daily rounds. Maybe as the weather warms a little, you and Teddie can take to the sidewalks again. And if you're up for tea or lunch, let's do that again soon.

Your walking bud,
Staci

Josie, you are so beautiful !

Just the way I recall our days at the your "Big House" playing and running and singing and dancing to Cher. You inspire me to keep on dancing no matter what tune is playing and even on the days I feel I lost the beat.

What a fantastic lady whose eyes smile with greatness.

Hugs for healing, love grace

So that is you in the photo. Bravo!!! You look fantastic. You look a bit like Cher.

My Mother has been cancer free for many years. She had her left breast removed in 1990.

Please do keep me posted on your progress.

God Bless you
Gary

Hello !!! It's PATTIE ...I don't get much time on our computer at work, butI do hear through Janet how everything is going, and let me say your pictures are BEAUTIFULL. What you are doing now is amazing. This may sound crazy but the little time I knew you here, you touched my life in a very special way. I think about your strength (and humor) often.

Greetings Sister-pal, With or without your hair, you are beautiful. So wonderful to chat with you so frequently on the phone and e-mail. I don't think I can recall even one complaint from you over the past year. I have to remember this, as I tend to moan and groan over so many mole hills! But you have been a source of inspiration for Deb and I, especially this year as we have communicated more. And whenever it is Okay with you, I'll stop in and bring you some fresh fish from the Gulf as I head back to Austin from one of my many fishing trips. And mail you fresh herbs, con su permisso! Here's to your indomitable spirit, my dear. Your brother-pal, Pedro
