"Did you ever feel like the whole world was going to a party and your invitation got lost in the mail?"

The frequent flyer miles keep rolling in as we embark on the last leg of the book tour for 2007. It has been a privilege and pleasure to represent the book and its participants to receptive audiences from coast to coast. And, as we continue our travels, we push on with the confidence in knowing that we are successfully helping others through The Faces behind Breast Cancer.

Once we honor our final commitments in San Diego and Austin, it will be wonderful to return to Houston and get back to basics. Upon return, we will sprinkle the confetti and let loose the balloons! In the meantime, please check the website at www.pinkcrusader.org for any changes or updates to the book tour.

Miss you and see you soon!

FYI:

From Dorothy Slater Paterson:
Dear fellow survivors,
I just sent an email letter to my senator asking that the Breast Cancer
Research Stamp be continued to raise crucial funds to fight this disease that affects us all.

The Breast Cancer Research Stamp has raised $55 million for
breast cancer research since its introduction in 1998. It has
become the best selling commemorative stamp in U.S. history, with
100% of the net proceeds benefiting breast cancer research
programs. But unless the Senate reauthorizes it, the stamp will
disappear in less than two months (December 31, 2007)! Urge your Senators
to save the stamp! Just click (or copy/paste in your web browser) on the
following link. http://komenpolicy.org/campaign/bcrs_sen

From the National Breast Cancer Coalition Monthly Newsletter:
Countdown to Election 2008
With just over two months before the first presidential contests in Iowa and New Hampshire, NBCC has launched the Breast Cancer Caucus (www.BreastCancerCaucus.org), a new online resource for voters. This website contains videos and written statements from presidential candidates of both parties, detailing their response to NBCC's agenda, their specific approaches to breast cancer research, prevention and care as well as their plans for health care reform, with additional elements planned.

During the primary season, visit the Breast Cancer Caucus to learn more about the candidates' positions on NBCC's priorities. And during the General Election, visit again to read our breast cancer public policy platform, get information about voter registration, pledge drives, and questions to ask the candidates at town hall meetings, debates and other forums.

SURVIVOR UPDATES:

Rosemary Barr

In response to all the well-wishes as she completes the current phase of treatment for recurrence of METS, Rosemary writes, "...So now, we continue on with life as usual and pray that the follow-up MRI shows resolution of these lesions. I have great faith that it will. I am visualizing them shrinking and know that the radiation killed the malignant cells. Again for all your support, prayers and love I am truly thankful. Peace, Blessings and Love, Rosemary "

Judy Bloss

Congratulations to Judy on her nomination as Paralegal of the Year. Judy just celebrated the completion of treatment after receiving a clean bill of health and we were among the guests at the Wild West celebration on Friday evening. As Judy would say, "Yahoo, I did it!"

Destini Jordan

Destini happily reported that she is officially out of treatment following her 12-month check-up, and sent the following note: "...my life is precious and I thank you for sharing in this marvelous journey with me, time, prayers, laughter, tears and most of all for helping me to be a better person." We continue to keep Destini and her family in our prayers as they look to the future and move forward with their lives.

Argelia Lopez

Argelia recently completed her 11th round of chemotherapy following treatment for recurrence. She continues to work 12-hour days and stays active in spite of the discomfort and fatigue. We admire her strength and determination and wish her the best as she forges ahead.
